For hundreds of years, Pawleys Island, SC and surrounding areas has served as a playground and home for all who have a love of beaches, rivers, marsh, creeks and the wildlife they support. Recently, in the last 100 years, golf has been added as a year round area attraction with many courses to challenge all skill levels.
Our young nation’s richest rice planters vacationed here in the 1700’s. Later, the Baruchs, Vanderbilts, Huntingtons, and Yawkey families bought thousands of acres that still remain undeveloped and protected from development. Presidents and World Leaders have visited here to hunt, fish and golf. Today, the charm that attracted them still welcomes you.
Our economy is varied and anchored by a large medical industry and services sector. Great shopping and fine dining abound. Numerous golf courses, miles of beach and many miles of waterfront and marsh make finding your place to play only a few minutes away from your home. Fishing, crabbing, shrimping, floating the creek, and surfing the waves are all favorite past times for our residents.
